South Africa feels the ‘gees’ – 11 June 2010

Many thought Cape Town was lagging in the gees stakes. But as the vuvuzela’s and hooters created a massive soundscape to the soccer world cup, Capetonians came out to play.

And they haven’t stopped since the midday call to action on Wednesday. Hats and scarves, face paint and wigs, and a host of flags – Capetonians are wearing them all, sometimes all at the same time. Johannesburg has been feeling the ‘gees’ since the Super 14 Final at Orlando Stadium which put Gauteng into the mood for a party. Viva Bafana Bafana Viva!
