Tutu: Teaching mediation skills to solve conflicts – 30 July 2009

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, patron of the Africa Centre for Dispute Settlement (ACDS) at the University of Stellenbsoch Business School, visited one of Centre’s pioneering peacemaker initiatives – the Delft Schools Peer Mediation Project – in Cape Town. The Archbishop took the opportunity to interact with children involved in the project.

The groundbreaking project involves 240 learners from various schools in Delft. It aims to raise awareness and knowledge of diversity, gender violence, bullying, crime, conflict and democracy – and to provide mechanisms for coping with these issues by using a structured and participative approach. It is hoped that this knowledge will spread to the greater Delft community.
