The Elders met President Jacob Zuma in Cape Town – 27 May 2010
The Elders – comprising Martti Ahtisaari, Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Lakhdar Brahimi, Gro Brundtland, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Jimmy Carter, Graça Machel, Mary Robinson and Desmond Tutu (chair) – met President Jacob Zuma in Cape Town yesterday.
The Elders, a group of eminent global leaders founded by Nelson Mandela three years ago in Johannesburg, spoke about issues in Zimbabwe, amongst other matters. PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma, the chief mediator in the political crisis in Zimbabwe, met the elite group of The Elders at Tuynhuys in Cape Town yesterday.
Though the meeting was closed for the media, discussions were expected to centre on SA’s efforts to forge a lasting solution to problems in Zimbabwe.
