Siyanqoba, ANC Rally at Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg – 19 April 2009

Siyanqoba – The ANC’s final rally ahead of the April 22nd general elections
saw a crowd of 120 thousand people turn up to support the movement. Siyanqoba is now hailed as the biggest rally ever staged in a South African election. Among the leaders who had graced the event is former president and ANC icon Nelson Mandela.

Madiba was accompanied by Ahmed Kathrada and Andrew Mlangeni fellow Rivonia Treason trialists. Siyanqoba also proved a popular choice for musicians and actors who Jacob Zuma thanked for their roles in the ANC’s election campaigns.
