Live Rage, Cry Rage…a tribute to James Matthews – 3 September 2009

Legendary Cape Town poet, James Matthews, was in full cry this week when he kicked off the Speak the Mind poetry and music sessions at Artscape. The diminutive poet, who packs a powerful literary punch, celebrated his 80th birthday this year. Young poets honoured his life’s work through the medium he loves best. They included Nobuhle Ketelo, Kanyi Mavi, Melisizwe Moni, Rondelda Kamfer, Sjaka September, Dajavu Tafari and more. The show moves to the Bassline in Johannesburg in the middle of the month.
