Tutu launches his book “God’s dream” on his birthday with school children – 7 October 2009

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu celebrated his 78th birthday by launching the children’s book, God’s Dream, surrounded by school kids, publishers and fans, at the Centre for the Book in Cape Town on October 7, 2009. The book was written by the Archbishop with Douglas Carlton Abrams and illustrated by Leuyen Pham. An except from the book reads: “Human beings have many differences: we speak different languages, have different customs and think in different ways. Yet we are all God’s children, and God dreams that, like any family, we will learn to love each other and live in peace together.” The children sang happy birthday, before settling down to the serious business of listening to the Arch read excerpts from the book – in three languages. The book is published in 11 languages.
