Chief Mandla Mandela symbolic walk from Mvezo to Qunu

On the occasion of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday, Qunu Chief Mandla Mandela and senior councilmen re-enact the walk Mandla’s great grandfather, Gadla, embarked on from Mvezo to Qunu. Gadla Mandela was dispossessed of the Mvezo chieftaincy by the then government for not attending a court hearing. He and his family were expelled to Qunu, where Nelson Mandela spent his youth and now some of his retirement.
 Chief Mandla recently reclaimed the Mandela clan’s right to the chieftaincy.
