Bantu Stephen “Steve” Biko garden of rememberance, Eastern Cape – 01 May 2009

The Steve Biko garden of rememberance is in Ginsberg, just outside of King William’s Town where he was born in 1977. In 1997 the local municipality upgraded and maintained the graveyard in recognision of other members of the community in their fight against apartheid. The graveyard also includes the graves Griffiths and Victoria Mxenge – both human rights lawyers and activists- alongside victims of the Bisho Massacre.
