MK Veterans march to demand apology from Zille – 27 May 2009

Umkhonto WeSizwe veterans – wearing camouflage gear – marched on the Provincial Leglislature of the Western Cape to demand that Premier Helen Zille apologise for insulting President Jacob Zuma. The march comes in the wake of an ugly standoff between Zille and various ANC structures that have accused her of racism after she called President Zuma a womaniser who put his wives at risk of contracting HIV/Aids. Marchers refused to hand over their demands to one of Zille’s staff, calling him her ‘boyfriend’ and telling him to ‘voetsak’. Zille was in Pretoria attending President Zuma’s lekogtla.
