The women of the village of Qunu in the Eastern Cape gather to listen to talks on World Aids day, 2002. The focus on the day was to remove the stigma and discrimination that surrounds HIV/AIDS. It is estimated that 57% of women and 42% of men in the Eastern Cape are HIV Positive.
A couple receive counseling from a trained professional at an HIV/AIDS clinic. By law, patients must be counseled prior to, and after, receiving their HIV test results.
