Four die as fire guts Two Oceans Backpackers in central Cape Town – 15 May 2009

At least four people died in a blaze that tore through a crowded backpackers establishment in central Cape Town. Four others are in intensive care fighting for their lives, and a further three were treated for their injuries. Survivors said they escaped the flames by jumping from upper storey windows. The building was gutted and police are investigating.
