Doctors march to keep body and soul together – 29 May 2009

Doctors around South Africa marched on the Department of Health this week to demand that government increase salaries and improve working conditions for those working in the public health system – something it promised to address over two years ago. The South African Medical Association supports the doctors in their quest for equitable pay. Doctors say the Health Minister and the department should commit to real negotiation instead of making comments that detract from the issue at hand: remuneration and better working conditions for our public sector doctors.
