Cairn of the Stones, Hanover street District Six – 11 February 2009

Anwar Nagia of the District Six Beneficiary and Development Trust  as well as Joe Schaffers of the District Six Museum (right) with musicians at a gathering at the cairn of stones in the last remaining portion of the original, historical Hanover Street. Former residents of the area, who were forcibly removed under the Group Areas act during apartheid, added stones from their own areas to the cairn.
